"I just wanted it to be as comfortable as possible," said Damion Jenkins, owner of Hop Street Lounge.

East Tucson beer and wine taproom Hop Street Lounge is scheduled to open on Saturday, March 16 in the Palo Verde Plaza at 7215 E. 22nd St.

The 3,800-square-foot space features cozy tufted black couches, booths, and chairs. Cushioned bar stools also offer back support.

“I just wanted it to be as comfortable as possible,” said Damion Jenkins, owner of Hop Street Lounge. “From bar stools to all the other seating.”

Outlets and WiFi are available in abundance so people can hang around.

Walls feature prints from Stephanie Strausser and murals from Modern Aquarian Lettering & Sign Art. Eight mounted televisions display sports games.

Refrigerators feature around 500 bottles of beer. The tap selection includes 35 beers taps, eight wine taps, two cold brew coffee taps, and two kombucha taps.

“I also have beer for people who aren’t as adventurous,” Jenkins said. “I don’t want people to feel intimidated if they’re only used to drinking Sierra Nevada.”

Food trucks are expected to park in front of Hops Street Lounge during the weekend — additional days if the demand is there.

Furthermore, Jenkins plans on expanding with an indoor beer garden next door once he has permission from the property manager. The beer garden will feature games and host private events and parties.

Operating hours will be noon – 10 p.m. Sunday, 2 – 10 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, and noon – midnight Thursday through Saturday.

Hop Street Lounge is located at 7215 E. 22nd St. Keep up with Hop Street Lounge on Facebook.
