Whether you’re hopping on a flight or just waiting for a favored traveler, there’s a new spot to grab a beer and a bite — pre-security.
Barrio Brewing Company has officially opened its restaurant at the Tucson International Airport, and it’s even available before kickin’ off your shoes in the security line.
“We are excited to welcome Barrio Brewing Company to Tucson International Airport,” said Tucson Airport Authority President and CEO Danette Bewley. “As passengers and those awaiting loved ones, it is great to provide our customers with an opportunity to order food or a drink while pre-security. It is even better that we have a local favorite that is sure to be appreciated by Tucsonans and visitors alike.”
Barrio Brewing quietly opened its airport location back in February 2021, but its hours are expanding due to the foot traffic it’s already received.
As of now, the hours of operation are 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
You can find the restaurant over on the upper level of Tucson International Airport, just next to the Arroyo Trading Post, and there also is plenty of patio seating if an outdoor spot is desired.
In January 2020, Barrio Brewing transferred the entirety of the business’ ownership to its employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). While companies such as Modern Times Beer and New Belgium Brewing Company, have implemented ESOP models, Barrio Brewing will be the first in the U.S. to give 100 percent of its ownership to employees once the ESOP is effective.
The new location at Tucson International Airport is located at 7250 S. Tucson Blvd. and its original taproom and brewery is located at 800 E.16th St. For more information, visit barriobrewing.com.
