Halle’s Hot Chicken: New ‘ghost kitchen’ found inside Lucky Wishbone

"People love it."

If you’re unaware of what a ghost kitchen is, here’s a quick breakdown. Also, there’s no need to be clutching your pearls because we’re not talking about spooky, transparent characters whippin’ up something tasty in the kitchen. Essentially, ghost kitchens are restaurants without a dining space, and they’re found inside other another restaurant’s kitchen. You simply order using a third-party delivery app and it’s sent to your location — a concept that sparked a big following during the pandemic.

Here in Tucson, there’s a new one to discover. Halle’s Hot Chicken, a Nashville hot chicken-inspired fast food joint, is now conveniently nestled inside Lucky Wishbone — the city’s very first locally owned fast food joint.

“Halle’s Hot Chicken was created by combining our experience with fried chicken, chicken tenders, and our love for Nashville hot chicken,” said Josh Jacobsen, who’s been involved with Lucky Wishbone since 1996.

Here’s how it works:

From 10:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily (cutoff time is 7:40 p.m.), you can make an online order through GrubHub, UberEats, and Doordash.

“The menu centers around chicken tenders, a chicken sandwich, and fried chicken,” said Jacobsen, “All served with our delicious Nashville Hot Sauce that has the perfect heat level for everyone to enjoy. All of our ‘plates’ are also served with crinkle-cut fries and pickles.”

Also, to fancy it up an extra notch, Halle’s Hot Chicken has self-serve kiosks available at the participating Lucky Wishbone locations, which include 2545 N. Campbell Ave., 2712 E. 22nd St., and 3780 W. Ina Rd. #188. Be sure to stick around after you make your order so you can then take it elsewhere to eat.

“The response we have gotten so far is that people love it,” said Jacobsen. “If Halle’s Hot Chicken continues to gain in popularity, we have plans to add more heat levels for our Nashville Hot Sauce and perhaps some new side items.”
