Over on 22nd Street, just between Craycroft and Wilmot Road, an eclectic menu awaits your arrival in the former Tequila’s Mexican & Seafood spot. At 5754 E. 22nd St., Mr. Patron opened its doors — officially on Friday, March 3 after a successful soft opening in late February.

What’s on the menu?
The sushi/Mexican restaurant’s menu is a cornucopia of variety including Mexican-style sushi rolls, jumbo burros, tacos (both surf and turf selections), tostadas, hamburgers with melted manchego cheese, drinks like micheladas and cocktails, shrimp cocktails — you name it.
You’ll notice that some of the rolls on the menu are totally Tucson, hot and spicy, and something you’d want to devour with a few beers. One of those is the Hachiro Roll, packed with beef or chicken and then drenched with nacho cheese and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos crumbles. You can get the same Flamin’ Hot Cheetos roll with shrimp as well — the Hachiro Shrimp Roll.

Special Galore
Plus, along with the Grand Opening earlier this month, Mr. Patron has already implemented weekly specials that have folks already planning future visits. The current deals include $1.99 tacos on Taco Tuesday, “Order 3 and Pay for 2” sushi rolls on Wednesday, and 15% off micheladas and house margaritas on Thursday.
Just the other day, and for that one day only, they had a one-off special that scored you a free cocktail with the purchase of two sushi rolls. You’ll want to follow them on Instagram to keep up with the latest deals.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
