Foodie Events from April 6 – 12: Honey tasting, lechuga libre, and wine, of course

Apr 5, 20232 min read

The week feels a bit light on events, we’ll blame it on the topsy-turvy weather. There’s still a variety of things to do, though, such as a honey tasting next Wednesday, a Lucha Libre-themed cooking and gardening class on Saturday, and a Spanish Wine Dinner at Zio Peppe on Tuesday. It’s a good time to be a Tucsonan.

Don’t forget, you can always check out our Things to Do section on the website to check out what’s going on any day of the week.

WHAT’S THE BUZZ — HONEY TASTING WITH NOEL PATTERSON

Wednesday, April 12 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Flying Aprons Tucson, 2700 E. Speedway Blvd.

Experience Sonoran Desert honey like never before and taste it like a sommelier tastes wine with beekeeper and sommelier Noel Patterson of Dos Manos Apiaries. You’ll explore and learn how flowers and terroir affect their characteristics.

As you sample each of the 6 offerings on fresh fruits, cheeses, and nuts, Noel will empower you to trust your senses and be less analytical in your approach to flavors. You’ll also learn the flora and exact Southern Arizona and world-origin locations.

You’ll discover how each honey is a unique reflection of the time and place where it was harvested, giving you the knowledge to make sustainable and delicious choices when buying it.

Cost: $75. Register here.

@Bktacos made @Nytimes’ list of 41 standout Mexican restaurants across the country. Published Aug. 13, the list was compiled by reporters, editors and photographers who spent more than a year traveling the U.S.

BK was the only Tucson restaurant included. Writer Bill Esparza highlighted its combination of Sonora-style carne asada and Sonoran hot dogs, a pairing he noted is distinct to Arizona. Benjamin and Karel Galaz, originally from Nacozari, Sonora, opened the restaurant in 1994.

Congratulations, @bktacos!🎉
