America’s Best Restaurants Roadshow to Feature 2 Tucson Restaurants

Oct 25, 20242 min read

America’s Best Restaurants (ABR), a national media and marketing company that focuses on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the two Tucson restaurants on Thursday, November 7.

The Roadshow came through town last year, making a stop at Gus Balon’s, and this time around ABR is stopping by Renee’s Tucson (7065 E. Tanque Verde Rd.) and Little Anthony’s Diner (7010 E. Broadway Blvd.).

Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owner Tony Terry about each of the restaurant’s special places in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media at a later date.

Renee’s emphasizes organic, fresh ingredients, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free selections as well as local beers and coffee, honey, and Arizona beef. With a clean, eclectic vibe and a standout menu of flavorful selections, the Kreagers offer an upscale dining experience that they describe as “casual elegance.”

“A desire for clean and approachable food centered around community guided my passion for having a restaurant,” said Renee. “I do set a standard of ‘our vibe attracts our tribe’ to eat here, to work here, to be part of our community. We do seek those who love loudly and care for each other and who get down on great food and service.”

Renee’s is also celebrating 20 years in business this year.

Then there’s Little Anthony’s Diner — a true throwback in time that takes folks back to the time of bobby socks and poodle skirts. Vintage cars line the entrance, neon signage lights up the sky, and murals of 1950s celebrities such as Elvis and Marilyn Monroe grace the exterior walls.

The menu has loads of burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, pizza, Blue Plate Specials, and salads, under the heading “Things Elvis Wouldn’t Eat.” A popular burger choice is the Hunk-A-Hunk Of Burning Love, topped with bacon, jalapeños, two types of cheese, an onion ring, and hot wing sauce on the side.

Perhaps they’ll feature the over-the-top Big Bopper Milkshakes, garnished with all kinds of additional sweets and sprinkles.

Little Anthony’s Diner is located at 7010 E. Broadway Blvd. For more information, visit littleanthonysdiner.com.

Also, ABR is taking its Roadshow to Sierra Vista and paying a visit to Pit Stop Gourmet Burgers, located at 4907 Highway 92.

Headquartered in Florence, Kentucky, America’s Best Restaurants is a national media and restaurant marketing company that travels the country telling stories and highlighting the unique food of locally owned independent restaurants as part of their ABR Roadshow.

More about Matt

At a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.

He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.

If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
