Over the past few years, Chef Maria Mazon of BOCA on Fourth Avenue has become a familiar face on the Food Network and other national TV networks. She sliced and diced on “Chopped” in 2017, appeared on “Tournament of Champions” in 2024, and represented Tucson on Bravo’s “Top Chef” in 2021, Mazon, who’s also been nominated twice for a James Beard Award, has a lot to add to her resume these days.
Next up: “Guy’s Grocery Games” on Food Network.
“I did a thing and it was the best thing,” said Mazon. “Watch me running around the best grocery store in the whole wide world. Don’t forget to tune in and root for this Mexican!”
The episode (Episode 1 of Season 38) will first air on Wednesday, January 8.
When it comes to what time, it depends on your television providers. For instance, it’s airing at 7 p.m. for some but then at 10 p.m. for those who have YouTube TV. So, check your TV guide so you’re sure not to miss it!
Each episode of the show features four chefs gathering ingredients in a grocery store to cook a dish assigned by Fieri while he presents obstacles and challenges.
Tucson chefs have had some luck on “Guy’s Grocery Games” in the past! In 2018, Chef Travis Peters won, and then in 2020, Chef Mo Madril of the former Geronimo’s Revenge food truck took home a win.
Good luck, Maria!
