More than a year ago, Bed Bath & Beyond hit the road (permanently closed) at Grant and Swan Road, paving the way for Roadhouse Cinemas’ brand-new expansion concept.
The time has come, and Roadies is now open, hosting its soft opening “practice week” at 4811 E. Grant Rd. #131. At the moment, Roadies is open 5 – 10 p.m. on Monday – Friday and noon – 10 p.m. on Saturday – Sunday.

There’s actually a lot going on inside Roadies — a restaurant, bar, several bowling lanes, axe throwing, laser tag, arcades, live music on select nights, and even mini movie theaters.
The bowling alley section of Roadies is using a nifty technology named Spark Augmented Reality Bowling, adding “stunning visuals, immersive animations, and customizable gameplay” to the old-fashioned experience.
On the Menu
There’s a lot going on with Roadies’ food and beverage menu, too.
You’ll find handhelds like Cubanos, birria quesadillas, baskets of waffle fries, and the spicy Cluck Norris fried chicken sandwich — all served with your choice of seasoned fries, coleslaw, or salad.

There’s also a solid taco lineup, from carne asada to vegan “steak.” Starters include Southwest eggrolls, mac & cheese bites, and the share-worthy Nacho Libre topped with queso and roasted corn.
Over at the bar, they’re serving wine, local craft beers, and cockatils.
You can check out the full menu here.
Happy Hour is from 3 – 6 p.m. on Monday – Thursday, with a reverse Happy Hour from 9 p.m. to close on the same days. During these times, you’ll score $2 off beer, wine, and house margaritas with half-off select appetizers.
A Decade in Tucson
Ten years ago, the original RoadHouse Cinemas (just on the other side of Roadies) opened its doors in Tucson, pumpig up the movie-going experience with its blend of comfort, in-theater dining, and entertainment.
RoadHouse Cinemas has two other locations at the moment — one up north in Scottsdale in 2017 and another in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2020.
In Tucson, Roadies is located at 4811 E. Grant Rd. #131. For more information, visit roadhousecinemas.com.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
