Northeast Tucson staple Renee’s announced their new take-out-only concept 313 Detroit-Style Pizza & Coneys is now open for business.
A taste of Detroit in the desert
Owners Renee and Steve Kreager wanted to bring Detroit favorites to Tucson.
“We are from Detroit,” Renee said, “This was Steve’s very passionate desire for years now. What started out from wanting to do Motown Mondays at the pizzeria turned into a virtual brand instead. By the way the economy is going right now, we are looking to provide something affordable for our guests right now that they can enjoy at home.”
Since Tucson already deeply embraces the Sonoran hot dog, they figured the Coney dogs would be a worthwhile addition
A menu with Michigan roots

The square pies feature airy crusts, crispy cheese edges, and classic toppings. The Coneys highlight intentional sourcing and careful preparation.

“The buns are from Alejandro’s Tortilla Factory,” Renee said. “We steam them. Vera Earl for the beef in the chili since we already use that at Renee’s for the meatballs and lasagna that we make. Vienna all-beef cased dogs from Chicago. The dogs are grilled and topped with a slick, fatty, superfine smooth chili with yellow mustard and white onion.”
Where to find it
Customers can order online for take-out and pick up their order to-go at Renee’s at 7065 E. Tanque Verde Rd. Operating hours are from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. For more details, visit 313pizzandconeys.com.
