Restaurants & bars the Tucson Foodie team is excited to try in 2023

Everyone that contributes to Tucson Foodie, whether they’re a writer, photographer, videographer, etc., is asked a common question: “Where should I eat in Tucson?”

Now, all of us have eaten at many restaurants throughout the city but it’s impossible for everyone to visit all of ’em. So, this year, the team is excited to visit places they haven’t had a chance to stop by yet — our own personal bucket lists for 2023.

  • I’ve been super lucky to try a lot of amazing food from new and well-established eateries, but one that I absolutely have on my list is El Torero. So many friends, including a few of my Tucson Foodie teammates, have instructed me to do so. Everything there looks amazing and I plan on setting aside an afternoon to take it all in. In my belly!
  • Otherwise, I just want to ride the 2023 food wave and see where it takes me. That and to get back to Snake & Barrel and sip Whiskey Del Bac in the dark underground.

@Asaditoszulmyta started with a tent and a grill on Tucson’s south side. Now, a year later, the Salvadoran food stand has grown into a food truck, a Central American market, and a gathering place for Tucson’s Latin American community.

Stop by Asaditos Zulmyta for their grand opening and Central American Independence Day celebration on Sept 12th from 7-10pm! Enjoy free aguas frescas, specials, a DJ, and more.

Don’t forget to walk over and grab a coffee at @Redcaptaincoffee!

@Sonoranrestaurantweek runs from September 4 through 13, 2026, and it’s the perfect excuse to pair a day of Tucson sightseeing with a prix fixe meal. Since the Old Pueblo packs desert trails, historic missions, art districts, and a UNESCO City of Gastronomy designation into one metro area, visitors can easily build a full day around any interest and land near a Restaurant Week stop when it’s time to eat.

Swipe to see six itineraries built around Tucson’s core attractions, each paired with nearby restaurants participating in this year’s event. Menus and prices are subject to change, so it’s worth confirming details on the Sonoran Restaurant Week website before heading out.@Sonoranrestaurantweek runs from September 4 through 13, 2026, and it’s the perfect excuse to pair a day of Tucson sightseeing with a prix fixe meal.
