14 Food-Obsessed Tucson Instagram Accounts To Follow

Nov 17, 20156 min read

The old idiom “your eyes are bigger than your stomach” has never been so relevant.

In the last few years, the food photo trend has grown so rapidly on social media that a few restaurants banned smartphone photography, while others brought in special plates to help you optimize your next brunch snap.

Lucky for us, Tucson has its very own crowd of social food photographers and home cooks capturing every corner of the food scene on Instagram. Below are several Tucson Instagram accounts to ease you in.

@520eats

Avocado toast @nookdowntown sooo good! #520eats #tucson #downtowntucson

520eats is “a product of Friday night happy hour. Four guys sitting around a table, talking about food.” A liquor distributor, a food snob, a cook and a bartender created the site as a resource for industry professionals and Tucson food lovers to join the conversation about the growing food scene.

Prepare for mouth-watering baked goodness. Angela Yung’s Instagram is sure to inspire a sweets break, with dishes like Triple Berry Cobbler Bars with Lemon-Scented Crust to Strawberry Shortcake Cookies.

It’s hard to determine which are better – Alexis’ home cooking process shots or her snaps of tacos and pizza out on the town. Go check out the “after” shot of these Italian Beef Sandwiches and decide for yourself

Fish tacos anyone? #tacos #fish #mahi #salsa #mango #tortillas #tucsonfoodie #foodporn

A photo posted by ericholton (@ericholton) on

Eric’s Instagram bio reads “Hockey flyers arizona tucson guitar food.” Though food comes last in the list, it’s certainly highlighted on his account. Oh, and we’ll take some of these fish tacos from the Westin La Paloma if you’re offering.

Considering she is a Culinary Institute of America grad and now works at Agustin Kitchen, it’s safe to say this user’s life revolves around food. Which is certainly a good thing for her followers.

Instagram food photography isn’t all donuts and ice cream cones. If you’re looking for a healthier approach, there’s certainly a niche for that. While pursuing her Bachelor’s of Science at The University of Arizona, Kristen provides viewers with a look at the greener side of our culinary world.

@JackieAlpers

Okay, Jackie has a bit of an advantage being a professional food photographer. After all, she only shoots for little companies like The Food Network and Refinery29. Needless to say, we are lucky to have her here in Tucson.

If there is one thing that is clear from Jason Wong’s account, it’s that he likes to eat, and he’s certainly open-minded about it. His snaps range from Jimmy John’s to hole-in-the-wall classics to unique combinations like Wasabi Lays crumbled over store bought sushi. (Extra props for the Lucky Wishbone pic.)

@LoiVinhDo

Jamie Leresche’s “slight baking addiction” is certainly fine by us. If these Flourless Chocolate Cookies With Pretzel And A White Chocolate Peanut Butter Drizzle don’t do it for you, maybe the Homemade Strawberry Balsamic Pie will.

Between the pools, hot spring and cold plunge, water slide, yoga, live music, complimentary bike rentals, and their nostalgic “Summer Rewind” experience, there was always something to do. We never left the resort.

The highlight at their on-site restaurant, Epazote Kitchen & Cocktails, was the Pollo Con Rajas - perfectly cooked chicken over a rich creamed poblano, onion, and corn mestizaje. And if you’re at their Sundance Café for breakfast, get the pozole. It’s made from a family recipe that became such a guest favorite it earned a permanent spot on the menu.

Although El Conquistador licenses the Hilton brand, it’s owned and operated by a local company. The culinary team sources much of its meat and produce from Arizona.

Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or just looking for an incredible dinner with Catalina Mountain views, this spot is worth adding to your list. 🌵🌞
