For years, Tucsonans have flocked to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church for their Mediterranean fix and it’s about to go down once again at 1145 E. Fort Lowell Rd. The long-standing Greek Festival is returning from 4 – 8 p.m. on Friday, September 24, and 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 25.
The fall tradition, which has been delivering good times to Tucson for more than 45 years, took the year off in 2020 — offering plates for pickup only — but this year they’re coming back to celebrate. However, it’s not quite ready for full Greek Festival capacity.
There are two options: You can either Eat Like a Greek and take it to-go or Stay and Greek Out with Us if you want to stay and join the fun at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.
The pre-order menu includes gyros, spanakopita, meze plates, chicken dinners, Greek salad, baklava, and dessert samplers. On-site you can expect Greek deli specialties, pastries, café/frappe, Greek wine, and ouzo, flaming cheese, loukoumades, a DJ, and an open sitting area.
You won’t have to worry about your chicken dinners getting cold either. All food will be prepared fresh on-site and you’ll also have an option to choose a designated time for pick-up when placing your order.
All proceeds from the event benefit the church. St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church and is the gathering’s largest fundraising event — bringing together the community with food, beverages, culture, and traditions.
