Tucson flourishes with local bakeries and doughnut shops like La Estrella Bakery, Young Donuts, and downtown Tucson’s Batch. Now, much like the San Diego-based Donut Bar and Colorado-based Amy’s Donuts, another out-of-towner is adding to the mix of doughy additions.
BoSa Donuts, which is based out of Chandler and spread all throughout the Phoenix area, has opened its first Tucson location at 6872 E. Tanque Verde Rd.

The building actually used to be an old Kentucky Fried Chicken, but now, since that restaurant has flown the coop, the structure is working just fine and dandy for BoSa Donuts and its day-to-day duties.
To celebrate the Grand Opening, the shop is offering a free doughnut or small hot coffee from Friday, February 25 – Friday, March 11.
Unlike many of the locations in and near Phoenix that are open 24-hours a day, Tucson’s spot is currently open daily from 5 a.m. – 9 p.m. — still plenty of time to stop inside or pull up to the drive-thru for a coffee, doughnut, sandwich, fruit smoothie, or Thai Iced Tea.

BoSa Donuts got its start back in 1994 — staying open 24 hours a day in Chandler — and has since opened up more than 25 locations in Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe, Casa Grande, Phoenix, Scottsdale, and now right here in the Old Pueblo.
BoSa Donuts is located at 6872 E. Tanque Verde Rd. For more information, call (520) 526-2341 or visit bosadonutsaz.com.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
