One of Tucson’s newest restaurants is throwing a party and you’re invited.
Central Tucson restaurant Copper Rock Craft Eatery is hosting its Grand Opening party from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. on Thursday, January 16.
They’ve been open for a few weeks, but now the restaurant and executive chef Alan Lambert are ready to make it official, while showcasing its crafty comfort food and celebratory specials.
All day, they’ll be offering Happy Hour prices, 30% off of your meal — which excludes any alcohol purchases — and live music.
One of the menu’s highlights are the titanic plate of Ahi Nachos. The dish features seared sushi-grade ahi with tangy wakame, avocado, sesame slaw, unagi sauce, and Sriracha aioli on crunchy wonton chips.

If you’re looking for something not so massive, but equally as filling, try Copper Rock’s Signature Filet Mignon. It’s served on creamy mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

Located in front of the renovated DoubleTree by Hilton Tucson Reid Park at 445 S. Alvernon Way, the dining room entrance features a 2,950-pound copper rock.
Copper Rock owner Allan Norville and his late wife Alfena Norville purchased the namesake copper rock as lifelong metal and mineral enthusiasts. Copper accents line the restaurant with details such as copper-plated beer taps.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
