Oct 18, 20222 min read

The first annual “Day of the Bread” event will take place at The Monica from 6 – 9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, which is the same day as the Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration.

This bread bazaar will feature fresh-from-the-oven delights created by baker extraordinaire, Don Guerra of Barrio Bread, chef Carlotta Flores from Si Charro! concepts, chef Danny Perez’s team at The Monica, and other Si Charro! chefs.

Ticket inclusions

Savor offerings such as Pan de Muerto, a traditional Mexican sweet bread, made with Barrio grains and specifically for the Day of the Dead celebration. Tickets are $50 per person and include signature cocktail tastings, plentiful samplings of bread, and unique recipes presented by the participating chefs.

There will also be lively tunes throughout the event, calavera (skull) painting, and raffles with prizes that include a chef’s table dinner for six with chef Flores and Guerra.

Giving back to the community

“Day of the Bread” is destined to become a very noteworthy, tasty, and beneficial event.

A portion of every ticket sold and a percentage of all sales will benefit Tucson’s Tu Nidito, a very special local non-profit agency that offers grieving children a community of acceptance and understanding during their time of need.

“We’ve been wanting to do this ‘feast of yeast and flavor” event for a while,” said Ray Flores, CEO of Si Charro! Concepts. “The ‘Day of the Bread’ is a fitting theme for this time of the year, and it seemed like an excellent opportunity to welcome guests to The Monica, show off the incredible talents of our team, and benefit one of Tucson’s most cherished non-profits.”

The Monica is located at 40 E. Congress St. For more information, visit themonica.com and eventbrite.com to purchase your tickets. Happy Hour takes place 3-6 p.m. on Monday – Friday.
