When you reside in the northwest part of town and find yourself yearning for authentic Italian flavors, your search for culinary delight ends at the charming Dominick’s Real Italian. This year, the family-owned and operated restaurant is celebrating 10 years at 8330 N. Thornydale Rd. and there’s now something new to keep the party going: lunch specials.

Every day from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Dominick’s is offering smaller portioned dishes anywhere from $8 to $9.50 each. The new menu was introduced for customers who are seeking a smaller portion and do not want leftovers.
Sometimes people want to come in for a quick bite during lunch,” said Marielle Ceniceros of Dominick’s.
Lunch Menu
- Chicken Piccata ($9) – pan-seared chicken breast sauteed with lemon, capers, white wine butter sauce, and served over pasta
- Chicken Marsala ($9) – robust creamy marsala sauce, chicken breast, and mushrooms over pasta
- Chicken Parmesan ($9) – lightly breaded fresh chicken breast smothered in our marinara sauce, topped with mozzarella, baked, and served with pasta and marinara
- Baked Eggplant Parmesan ($8) – sliced fresh eggplant topped with marinara and mozzarella that’s served with pasta
- Four Cheese Ravioli ($9.50) – with meat marinara
- Build Your Own Pasta ($7) – choice of spaghetti, fettuccine, linguine, or penne with marinara
- Giant Cheese Slice of Pizza ($8) – add up to three toppings for $0.75 each

“The small plates and lunch menu have been very well received,” said Ceniceros. “We have had many requests for smaller portions and we are happy to offer our customers an alternative.”
Also, fear not, fans of Dominick’s traditionally sized portions. All of that greatness is still on the menu. “It’s a good opportunity to try a little bit of everything and share,” Ceniceros added.
You can also add a small garden, Caesar salad, or a cup of minestrone for $3 each. Plus, they have beverage specials like a glass of wine for $5, a well cocktail for $5, and draft beer for $6.
The restaurant is currently open from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Sunday – Thursday and 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Friday – Saturday.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
