The team behind Eegee’s is shutting the doors to its South Craycroft Road and East 22nd Street location on Tuesday, September 19 — the third Tucson location to close since late August.
The other two locations that have closed were located at Campbell Avenue and Grant Road, and then Broadway Boulevard and Kolb Road.
Fear not, though, loyal fans of the beloved Tucson slushy beverages and sandwich chain! This is all part of the plan, so to speak. Eegee’s shared the following on social media to fill folks in on the closures:
“While it’s never easy saying goodbye to a neighborhood, we identified these restaurants because of their proximity to other locations. The closures will allow us to invest more into our nearby stores and strengthen our ability to bring Eegee’s to more communities.
We are excited to continue to serve our guests at our many nearby locations. We are so thankful to our amazing employees for their incredible work at these locations, and we are extremely proud to share that all employees from these affect stores will have the opportunity to continue working at Eegee’s. Retention for our people has been and remains our key priority.
Coming off of record summer sales, we are even more excited for what the future holds including new flavors and crave-worthy food, remodeled stores, and future locations. We understand change is never easy, but we appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you soon.”
So, Eegee’s is down three locations but it’s not the end of the world for most who dream about drenching their crinkle-cut fries with ranch dressing. There are still more than 20 other locations spread around Tucson — imagine the brain-freezing opportunities!
