El Tour de Tucson is happening this weekend (Saturday, November 23).
The 41st annual event is ready to hit the streets — a city-wide experience that usually draws more than 9,000 cyclists. El Tour de Tucson also helps nonprofit agencies to raise funds for their organizations, and since 1983, the events have raised nearly $121 million for local and international organizations.
However, you must fuel up before the big ride!
On Friday, November 22, Bacio Italiano and Gentle Ben’s are teaming up for a feast filled with pasta, salads, and “all things carby goodness.” It’s also a time to connect with fellow cyclists, share stories, and get pumped up for the ride of a lifetime. Then, the experience includes a special screening of the five-time Oscar-nominated film “Break Away.”

“Whether you’re a pro or just there for the fun, this dinner is a must before you hit the road.”
The dinner and movie tickets are $22 per person (before tax) and $10 for every ticket sold will go to El Tour Bikes for Change.
The dinner is taking place at Gentle Ben’s and parking validations are available for the Tyndall Parking Lot Garage.
Gentle Ben’s is located at 865 E. University Blvd. For more information and to purchase tickets to the dinner, visit eventbrite.com.
El Tour De Tucson Beer!
For a second consecutive year, Dragoon Brewing Company and El Tour de Tucson have teamed up for an official beer — a Dragoon Pils — in honor of the annual race.
The can’s artwork may look familiar to Tucsonans — it was created by local and renowned artist Joe Pagac.
“We’re so thrilled to be back this year as the beer sponsor of El Tour de Tucson,” said Tristan White, owner of Dragoon Brewing. “Last year’s event was a huge success and we’re looking forward to the 41st event as it not only brings the Tucson community together but spotlights Tucson on an international scale. Look out for our custom-branded Dragoon Pils clothed in the wonderful El Tour de Tucson 2024 artwork at your local stores!”

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
