Feasts, Views & Mimosas: 6 Fancy Sunday Brunch Buffets to Indulge in

Feasts, Views & Mimosas: 6 Fancy Sunday Brunch Buffets to Indulge in

Dec 6, 20194 min read

Brunch is a valid excuse for day drinking, but an excuse to dress up a little is also welcome every now and then.

While Tucson rocks fantastic casual brunch options, it’s also fun to indulge with one of the extravagant Sunday brunch buffets at one of the luxury resorts surrounding Tucson.

Also, some of these are actually offered on the daily, so check with the resort beforehand if you’re unsure and craving decadence on a Saturday.

Sunday Lunch at Tanque Verde Ranch

The first restaurant on this list technically offers Sunday lunch rather than Sunday brunch from noon – 1:30 p.m., but guests can indulge all the same.

Adults are $35, while children are $17.50. Mimosas are available a la carte with options including the Classic, Prickly Pear, Pineapple & Strawberry, and Mimosa of the Month.

While the hearty entrees such as the Herb Crusted prime Rib of Beef With Natural Jus or Blackened Chicken Breast with Roasted Poblano Crema are satisfying, don’t miss out on the other stations — particularly the seafood station with smoked salmon, trout, fresh oysters, and shrimp cocktail. The cheese, charcuterie, and desserts are also easy to load up on.

For more information, call (800) 234-3833 or visit tanqueverderanch.com.

A longstanding local favorite, Hacienda Del Sol’s buffet is among the most diverse. Sunday brunch is $42 a person and includes bottomless mimosas.

Regularly appearing items include prime rib, sushi, blintzes, shrimp, pasta, cheeses, smoked salmon, roasted vegetables, Eggs Benedict, omelets, and waffles.

Additionally, the theme changes weekly for other dishes — diners can find Korean bibimbap one week and Italian grilled octopus another week.

The freshness is noticeable — seasonal fruit, vegetables, and herbs grown on site at Hacienda.

Brunch hours are 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. every Sunday.

For a lively outdoor experience, check out Blues, Brews & BBQ Sunday Brunch at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sundays.

The name is self-explanatory — enjoy live blues, endless pours of beer (and mimosas), and freshly-prepared food off the grill. Brunch is $45 for adults, $21 for children ages 6 – 12, and $9.95 for children under 5, plus tax and gratuity.

While ribs and grilled salmon are the stars, diners can also choose from sushi, prime rib, seasonal vegetarian plates, made-to-order frittatas, pastries, desserts, and more.

While Freddie Mercury sang about dining at the Ritz, brunch is also tantalizingly luxurious.

The $34 American Breakfast features all of the Continental Breakfast perks (assorted pastries, yogurt, sliced fruit and berries, cold cuts, smoked salmon, juice, coffee, and tea) plus all hot items from the buffet and omelet station. Breakfast hours are 7 – 11 a.m. daily.

Ingredients, presentation, and service are all top-notch. Rather than a view of the mountains, the resort rests among the mountains remote from the city, so seeing red cardinals or other wildlife is not uncommon.

The resort also received its fifth consecutive Forbes Five Star award in 2019, making it one of only two properties in Arizona to earn the distinction.

The $27 full breakfast buffet includes scrambled eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes, fresh fruits and berries, breakfast breads, bagels, pastries, oatmeal, smoked salmon, cold cereals, sausage, cooked-to-order omelets, a waffle station, pancakes, juices, and Starbucks coffee.

Most importantly and uniquely, it includes a posole bar with various accompaniments to choose from.

Breakfast hours are 6:30 – 11:00 a.m. daily.

The Art of Breakfast Buffet at the Fiesta Café at Omni Tucson National Resort

While the Art of Breakfast Buffet is all-you-can-eat, dishes are prepared to order from the kitchen. The experience is $25 for adults, $15 for children 6 – 12 years old, and complimentary for children 5 and under. The price includes coffee, tea, and juice — bottomless mimosas can be added for $16 per adult.

The menu includes breakfast breads and pastries (gluten-free options available), fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, oatmeal brûlée, organic cereals, house cured salmon, pancakes, multi-grain waffles, cooked-to-order cage-free eggs, breakfast potatoes, applewood smoked bacon, green chili cilantro sausage links, and their signature blueberry maple sausage patties.

Stay for the views (and perhaps a round of golf).

Three-peat!🏆🏆🏆

@Chef_antbanks of @obonsushi defended his Iron Chef Tucson title against AJ Mortazavi of The Barnyard Crafthouse & Eatery, with tomatoes from Wholesum Family Farms revealed as this year’s secret ingredient.

Dromgoole’s winning menu included pork with minced olives over a diced tomato salad, a tomato-forward ratatouille with mozzarella, charred corn and whipped ricotta served with tableside tomato soup, and a standout dessert of fried tomato topped with goat cheese ice cream and balsamic glaze.

With the victory, Dromgoole joins Ryan Clark as the only chefs to win @theironcheftucson three years in a row. Here’s hoping OBON brings these dishes back for a special dinner. 🍅
