When one door closes, another one opens.
The team behind Prep & Pastry, Commoner & Co., and August Rhodes Market are moving into the spot that was previously housed by Rincon Market.

Once everything’s complete, Flora’s Market Run will be nestled inside the building on East Sixth Street, and offer a full-service grocery store and restaurant.
Plus, if you’re not in the mood to shop around, Flora’s Market Run will have a restaurant, too. They’ll have counter-service for breakfast and lunch, table-service for dinner, and a menu that’s got the likes of sandwiches, salads, pizza, chicken, and salmon.
Hey, but what about the dough?
August Rhodes will be the primary baker at the new location, and in addition, will still be providing its bread to both Prep & Pastry locations, Commoner & Co., and several other restaurants around the city.

On the shelves, you’ll find some familiar local products available for purchase as well.
In a time when “keeping it local” is more important than ever, the market is in the process of partnering up with several Tucson companies to offer a helping hand and exposure.
An opening date has yet to be announced, but in the coming weeks, you’ll notice some changes happening inside and outside of the historic building.

Rincon Market had been in the spot since it opened in 1926, but the store shut its doors in early June after the tenants failed to pay the rent — all of which was according to the notices posted on the store’s windows.
Flora’s Market Run will be located at 2513 E. Sixth St. Follow Prep & Pastry on Facebook for the latest.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
