Cookie lovers who have been waiting all year for their Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs may wonder why Girl Scouts haven’t set up shop outside supermarkets or wheeled their treat wagons through the neighborhood.
Well, you can thank the pandemic for that, but luckily they know how to improvise.
In case you didn’t know, cookie season for the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona is in full swing by using GrubHub, online sales, and drive-thru cookie booths, and will be until Sunday, February 28.
In other words, they’re working steadily to reach their cookie goals for 2021.
With this new Digital Cookie Platform, you can have the cookies shipped to your home. It’s super convenient and incredibly dangerous — in a good way — if you’ve got quite the sweet tooth.

With an order of $30 or more, you’ll save $5 with subsidized shipping, and all orders through this method will be evenly shared with local Girl Scouts participating in the digital order opportunity.
If you’ve been ordering a lot of food through a food delivery service, this next option may be for you. The Girl Scouts are using GrubHub for contact-free delivery this year. All you need to do is make an order from the app from 4 – 8 p.m. on Thursday – Sunday.
Girl Scouts are still selling cookies in-person, too, in socially distant and creative ways.
Some have gotten pretty handy and resourceful with the safety measures they’ve implemented. For example, one troop created an enclosed storefront at their booth to protect both customers and Girl Scout.

Another troop designed a pulley system to provide contactless sales — proving that it can still be fun to purchase Girl Scout Cookies during this time of year.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
