The HungerWalk, that we all know and love, is back!
The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona is hosting its annual HungerWalk on Saturday, September 10, during Hunger Action Month.
HungerWalk brings together families, friends, and community members to walk, raise awareness, and raise funds to end hunger. This fun event is one of the Community Food Bank’s biggest and is for all ages, featuring music, entertainment, healthy snacks, games, activities, and more.

The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona responds to the root causes of hunger and seeks to restore dignity, health, opportunity, and hope to people living in poverty. The group’s mission is to change lives in the communities they serve by feeding the hungry today, and then to work on building a healthy, hunger-free tomorrow.
HungerWalk 2022
For the second time in a row, the HungerWalk will be a hybrid event, meaning that you’ll be able to join in person from the Kino Sports Complex and Green Valley at Historic Canoa Ranch, or you can do it at your own pace as a Virtual Walker. The event also offers prizes, music, entertainment, and a light breakfast for walkers.
In attendance this year will be Malea Chavez, the newly hired CEO of the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.
“Ms. Chavez grew up in Tucson and has a deeply rooted connection to our Southern Arizona community,” said Lauryn Bianco, Chair of the Community Food Bank Board of Directors. “Her breadth of experience in advocacy, passion for addressing poverty at its roots, and phenomenal leadership skills are exactly the qualities that the CEO Search Committee and the Board of Directors were looking for in the next leader of the Community Food Bank.”
Chavez also has a strong background in nonprofit management, once practiced law in California, and has worked extensively in hunger relief.

Prefer to walk at your own time or place? Register as a Virtual Walker instead. Virtual Walkers can register, raise funds, and receive a HungerWalk t-shirt.

- Adult walker (12+ years): $25
- Youth walker (ages 6-11): $10
- Child walker (5 years and under): FREE
- Virtual walker: $25

Your support goes directly to providing emergency groceries, hot meals, and so much more to families in need. Plus, the month of September is also Hunger Action Month, and what better time to throw a HungerWalk and give back to members of the community that need it the most, right?
