The Little One, the beloved restaurant located at the corner of Stone Avenue and Alameda Street, is — for the very first time — opening up for business on Saturdays.
For years now, the restaurant has only been open on weekdays but now the brand-new hours of operation are (starting this week) 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Tuesday – Saturday.
It’s a big deal for us and I’d be lying if I said weren’t nervous about this change of pace,” said Marcela Davila-Barley of The Little One. “However, we do not want to be left behind and want to serve our community the best way we see fit.”
With that being said, the restaurant is open every Saturday. Also, paired with the new hours are some new menu items to delight its guests — giant omelets being some of those new dishes.
“The omelets can be stuffed with any of our lunch entrées such as chipotle pork, pollo and mole, guacamole, cheese… Whatever we have you can basically put inside your omelets,” said Davila-Barley. “You can have breakfast from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. We’re trying to get a feel for what the weekend brunch scene looks like, and if it’s a hit we’re looking to extending to Sunday. We have never been open on weekends so we’re excited.”
Also, stay tuned for different breakfast specials to hit the menu on Saturdays.
The Little One’s backstory
In the late 1980s, Luis Davila and his daughter Suzana Davila opened The Little One, which at that time was called The Little Cafe Poca Cosa. Suzana was already running Café Poca Cosa, which closed in 2022, and Luis died in 2013, but The Little One is still a family affair. Luis’ daughters Sandra and Marcela moved the Little One to their current location at 151 N. Stone Ave.
Sandra and Suzanna retired during the COVID pandemic and Marcela is still going strong with The Little One, a restaurant they refer to as the “heartbeat of downtown Tucson.”
