Executive chef Travis Peters from Southern fusion restaurant The Parish competed on Guy’s Grocery Games, which aired Wednesday night — and he won.
“It feels incredible,” Peters said. “It’s one of the greatest culinary moments I’ve ever had. And I’m truly humbled by all the support I’ve received from Tucson. I fucking love this city.”
Participants on the show were limited on what they could say until after the show aired, so we chatted with Peters this morning for more details:
Being on that show is insane, everything you watch is in real time. Having to shop for food in a place you’ve never been before and cook a dish all within 30 minutes is beyond stressful.
Guy Fieri is probably one of the coolest people I’ve ever met and he is super humble and very helpful during the whole process. You can tell he truly wants everyone involved to have a great time and cook their best.
All I wanted to do when I was on that show was impress my kid, impress my wife, and represent the city that shows me so much love. Rock on Tucson.”
Each episode of the show features four chefs gather ingredients in a grocery store to cook a dish assigned by Fieri while he presents obstacles and challenges. The winner competes in a bonus round where they can win up to $20,000.
The Parish also appeared on the Cooking Channel’s Late Nite Eats late 2017.
