Over the weekend, Red Captain Coffee — the popular coffee cart at 4004 N. Stone Ave. — announced that the coffee cart will be permanently closing on the corner near Roger Road.
The very last day to grab a coffee is Friday, May 31.
The Red Captain Coffee crew shared the following on social media:
“This journey has been filled with countless cups of coffee, heartfelt conversations, and the joy of a real sense of belonging in our community. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. Your support, smiles, and loyalty have made this experience truly unforgettable. Whether you were a regular who knew our baristas by name or a passerby who stopped for a quick pick-me-up, you have all been a part of what made Red Captain Coffee such a special place in our hearts.”
The History of Red Captain Coffee
Red Captain Coffee’s owner, operator, and founder Ramses Trujillo worked for Avenue Coffee, which eventually became Cartel Roasters Co., for years before leaving to work sales at a local car dealership. Trujillo began brewing his own cold brew coffee using specialty coffee beans from Tucson producers such as Presta Coffee Roasters.
In March 2020, Red Captain Coffee made its debut. Shortly after, the owners of Hem and Her Bridal on Stone Avenue near Roger were longtime fans of Red Captain Coffee’s delicious, caffeinated concoctions and offered a spot right out front.
“As we chart paths into new adventures, we carry with us the memories of all the friends we made along the way,” the Red Captain Coffee team shared. “Thank you for making Red Captain Coffee the special place it always was in our hearts. We hope the spirit of good coffee and great company continues to inspire you, just as you have inspired us.”
Reminder: Friday, May 31 is the cart’s last day! Stop by, wish them well, and show them love and support.
