Rolled Ice Cream, Gelato & More: 15 Spots for Frozen Treats in Tucson

Rolled Ice Cream, Gelato & More: 15 Spots for Frozen Treats in Tucson

Jul 20, 20186 min read

Tucson is fortunate enough to have ice cream-eating weather all year, but summer is the perfect excuse to indulge a little extra.

We’re also fortunate for our wide selection of local ice cream shops. Adventurous flavors such as Lavender-Honey and Maple Walnut abound.

Ice cream can’t get all the love for frozen dairy delights, though. We’re counting gelato too, which originated in Italy. Gelato has about half the butterfat content of ice cream, less air than ice cream, and is served a few degrees warmer than traditional ice cream.

So break out the shades and grab a cone. If you play it right, this summer’s going to be brimming with flavor.

With rolled ice cream, preparation begins with the ingredients flattened out on a mini freezer-like surface. From there, they pour the milk over the whole thing and once it’s flat enough, scrape it into rolls. It’s fun to eat, especially here where they have spacious red couches to lounge and chill out. Choose from nine different base flavors, such as mango and cherry, and countless mix-ins to make it your own.

The interior is bright and colorful with green and blue walls framing the open space. Additionally, they add a different splash of color to their whipped cream daily.
