(Update: Due to the stormy weather and rain delays, Salad and Go is now opening on Thursday, August 26 and not Friday, August 20)
The fast-food salad giant that got its start in Gilbert, Arizona, Salad and Go, is opening its first Tucson location on Thursday, August 26.
The new location is found on the corner of Speedway and Craycroft, at 5501 E. Speedway Blvd, and is throwing a Grand Opening Celebration to welcome its first Tucson customers.

Anyone that orders a breakfast burrito on “opening day” from 6:30 – 10:30 a.m. will be rewarded with a free salad or wrap. All of Salad and Go’s burritos are $2.99 and the freebies are limited to one per person. To snag this deal, you’ll need to order using the drive-thru and not by ordering online or with the app.
Salad and Go got its start eight years ago and has since opened 31 locations in the Phoenix area, with plans to open its first group of non-Arizona locations over in Texas.

The healthy drive-thru dishes out chef-created salads, wraps, breakfast burritos, soup, and beverages for $1. The beverage deal is all day, any day, and any size, which includes organic cold brew coffee, iced teas, and house-made lemonades.
Salad and Go will be open from 6:30 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Monday – Friday and 7 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The restaurant is small, petite, and made for drive-thru orders, but you’ll also have the option to order ahead online or with the restaurant’s app.
A second location is also planned to open in Fall 2021 at 1730 E. Tucson Marketplace Blvd — located in the area near Dave & Buster’s and Costco.
Salad and Go is located at 5501 E. Speedway Blvd. For more information, visit saladandgo.com.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
