Holy guacamole, it’s going to be a party at the Rillito Downs.
The Salt & Lime Fiesta is presenting its “south of the border twist” from 3 – 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 15 – Sunday, October 16 at 4502 N. First Ave.

This year’s festival is encouraging folks to taste, smell, see, hear, and touch. What this means is that there will be tacos in the event’s “Taco Row,” an assortment of food trucks, lots of tequila, margaritas with even more tequila, beer, live music, a lowrider show, and lucha libre wrestling.
You can even take a spin on a mechanical taco. You know, it’s like a mechanical bull… only it’s a taco.

You can purchase tickets online and they’ve got quite a few to pick from.
General Admission is $25 on Saturday and then $15 on Sunday. If you’d like to snag VIP Admission, which includes early admission, two taco tickets, two drink tickets, and more, it’s $85 on Saturday and then $65 on Sunday.
Oh, and if you’d like access to the Margarita Oasis — an area equipped with more than 12 different margarita flavors and samples — it’s $40 on Saturday and $30 on Sunday.
The taco vendors and food trucks have yet to be revealed but take a gander at the live music schedule happening over the weekend.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
