The Dutch Eatery & Refuge is relocating its classic Dutch dishes and new American-style cuisine to 5340 E. Broadway Blvd. by Spring 2022.
The Dutch Eatery first opened its doors at 943 E. University Blvd. in June 2017 and is now planning on taking over the former Pita Jungle spot — which recently closed its doors on Thursday, September 30.
“We’ve loved being by the school and are very excited about our new chapter,” said co-owner, Nicole Van Winden, “and being able to introduce The Dutch to a more diverse audience, who may not make it to university area often.”
Currently, they’re working on some new additions to the space on Broadway, including an extended pet and kid-friendly patio with artificial grass — an expansion of the current patio. Also, for those familiar with the current location, it’ll still be an “open indoor and outdoor concept” they’re working on replicating the huge glass windows you see at the University spot.
“We are using the same architect, Bill Mackey, who designed The Dutch, Time Market, EXO Coffee, Hamilton Distillers, and others to design our build-out,” said Van Winden. “We are looking forward to bringing in a few more traditional European elements, such as a ‘Chef’s Table’ located at the kitchen, where guests will be able to reserve a seat and enjoy a personally curated three to seven-course tasting menu.”
For those concerned about the bottomless mimosas, there’s no need to fret. The Dutch is keeping its brunch menu and mimosa special daily until 3 p.m.
Stay tuned for more details as the restaurant makes its move to Broadway by the Spring of 2022, and meanwhile, they’re still open at Main Gate Square.
