After closing up its location across the street from the Foothills Mall on Ina Road, Whiskey Roads is saddlin’ up for a grand opening of its new location.
The country bar and restaurant combo is opening its doors over yonder at 2290 W. Ina Rd. — the same parking lot as the mall AMC Theaters, and Barnes & Noble — on Friday, February 11.

The building previously housed the World Sports Grille, which closed years ago. The team behind the country bar is excited to be opening in its new spot because it’s much larger than its former building, which was the remnants of a Macaroni Grill.
The new space is more than 16,000 square feet, creating a capacity of 980 folks — up from 296. That’s more than enough room to contain two bars, a heck of a lot of TVs, a big dancefloor, and two separate patios. It’s considered to be the biggest of its kind on the northwest side of town.
What’s cookin’?
Whiskey Roads’ menu options include appetizers such as wings and sliders along with steaks, chicken, a Portobello Burger, and salads. There’s also a Sunday Brunch menu for those seeking mimosas, chilaquiles, huevos ranchers, and pozole.

The hours of operation are 2 p.m. – 2 a.m. on Wednesday – Friday and 11 a.m. – 2 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Whiskey Roads is located at 2290 W. Ina Rd. Keep up with Whiskey Roads on Facebook. For more information, visit whiskeyroadstucson.com.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
