Wooden Tooth Records has officially opened its brand-new downtown location at 108 E. Congress St., which is a fantastic combo of loud music and a craft beer bar.

For the old-school Tucson scene kids from the early to mid-2000s, it’s nostalgic to walk into the former Red Room space because the walls are still red, the same bar is intact, and old furniture can be found at the bar. As a matter of fact, someone actually reached out to Wooden Tooth owners, Jake Sullivan and Kellen Fortier, and offered to return an original green bench seat from the Red Room (you’ll find it here near the bar).
For years, Sullivan and Fortier have had some sort of connection to Tucson’s food and beverage scene. Before opening the very first Wooden Tooth Records in the back of Cafe Passe on Fourth Avenue, they actually worked there, too.

“We’ve been working on this for quite some time, and we can now proudly say that the second location of Wooden Tooth Records is open,” Sullivan and Fortier shared on Facebook. “We’ll be planning a big grand opening soon, but for now we’re just excited to be able to open our doors and share the space with you.”
The new downtown spot is open 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Sunday – Thursday and 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
“We couldn’t have done it without the help and generosity of a lot of people, for which we are extremely grateful. This building holds a lot of memories for many Tucsonans and we are incredibly honored to be able to finally open the doors once again.”
At the moment, they’ve got five canned beers including Dragoon IPA, Barrio Blonde, and Spellbinder from Wren House Brewing Company, a couple of June Shines, Tepache, and fancy water in a bottle.

You’ll notice a lot is happening in the area, too. Wooden Tooth Records is sandwiched between Blue Front, a new restaurant concept from the minds behind Penca Restaurante, and Shirt Shop Mercantile, which is set to be a coffee shop/bakery combination.
So, stop on by, thumb through some records, grab a beer at the bar, perhaps fumble through even more records after that, and support the dudes that have been feeding our ears since 2015.
The new Wooden Tooth Records shop is located at 108 E. Congress St. and the flagship location is found at 426 E. Seventh St. For more information, visit woodentoothrecords.store.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
