Mighty Mediterranean for a not mighty budget.

Nowadays, there are so many delectable options that cross your path when you’re wandering downtown. In certain instances, you might be faced with a few preferences when it comes to picking your desired meal.

If flavorful Mediterranean cuisine with a side of affordable prices and incredible late-night hours is your thing, then Urban Pita is a no-brainer.

Located below a residential building that doubles as a parking garage as you enter downtown’s east end, Urban Pita is surrounded by other bars and restaurants. The food is fresh and you won’t be waiting long before the good stuff arrives — an ideal option for a quick work-week lunch.

Lotsa lunch options

Some of the menu options include appetizers, Mediterranean salads such as fattoush and tabouli, meat pockets and puffs, sandwiches such as gyros and shawarma, and a variety of combo plates.

One of the tastiest, and perhaps most fun to look at, is the Kafta Special.

It’s a quesadilla-like combination of flavorful greatness that’s not only satisfying, but generously portioned for those looking for a hefty sampler containing the likes of Baba Ganoush and Hummus.

As previously mentioned, the menu has plenty of affordable yet satisfying options and the Greek Salad is no exception.

From the crunch of the Romaine, to the zippy Greek Dressing, rounded out with the saltiness of the feta and Kalamatas, it’s a massive flavor bomb that keeps Greek salad-lovers returning time and again.

There’s a handful of other selections that are less than $10, too:

  • Couscous Bowls – topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, sauce, and your choice of gyro or chicken.
  • Gyro (both regular and jumbo sizes)
  • Chicken Shwarma (regular size only)
  • Falafel sandwich
  • All appetizers (except sampler platter)
  • All pockets and puffs

And if you’re still on the fence about heading downtown, don’t be dissuaded by this downtown destination. Between the prices and the quality, it’ll make up for the extra minute or two to find nearby parking. Of course, they’re just below a parking garage, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

Urban Pita is located at 345 E. Congress St. #135. Operating hours are 11 a.m. – midnight on Monday – Wednesday, 11 a.m. – 3 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, noon – 3 a.m. on Saturday, and 4 p.m. – midnight on Sunday. For more information, visit urbanpitaaz.com.
