Here in Tucson, we’re familiar with micheladas — a concoction that sometimes nurses hangovers and goes splendidly well with Mexican cuisine. There are several spots in the city serving them up daily and warming the hearts of many, but now there’s an out-of-towner, when it comes to breweries, ready to mingle with the locals.
Beginning on Monday, July 12 — National Michelada Day — Mexican brewer Estrella Jalisco is teaming up with chef Maria Mazon of BOCA Tacos y Tequila for “Michelada Mondays.”
Mazon got plenty of national attention during her entertaining stint on the most recent season of “Top Chef”, allowing those not living in Tucson to witness the quirky comments, her love for those in the kitchen, and the recipes that define her as a chef. Therefore, her partnership with Estrella Jalisco and the media company Tastemade came to fruition.
The brewery, which has more than 100 years of tradition, recently introduced the new Classic Michelada for “Michelada Mondays.” It’s a Mexican-style lager blended with Clamato and lime juice, creating a “balance of sweet, savory, and spicy.”
The contest was crafted to commemorate everyone’s return to togetherness and is also encouraging people to take time off without losing pay.
That’s right, they want to pay you to take a day off.
The contest ends at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, July 22.
Additionally, Estrella Jalisco and Tastemade are giving all michelada lovers the chance to create their own “Michelada Mondays” at home. The two have gathered a collection of michelada-inspired recipes and are offering a complimentary three-month trial of Tastemade+ — a subscription video-on-demand service.
All you’ve got to do is scan the QR code on the back of the Classic Michelada cans.
