September 7, 2023
By Matt Sterner

Watershed Management Group (WMG) is ready to party because it’s their 20-year anniversary.

On Friday, September 22 from 6 – 10 p.m., WMG wants you to engage your body and nourish your soul with art making, basin creating, creek hopping, and hydro-local living —all while enjoying the sights and sounds of the borderlands. Everyone is invited to this party, with activities for all ages, and no cover at 1137 N. Dodge Blvd.

The rainwater-fed Living Lab is gearing up for an exciting Friday evening celebration. DJ Dirtyverbs, a poet, performer, and cherished friend of WMG will be filling the plaza with lively cumbia tunes.

Come hungry, too, because there’s going to be local cuisine and beverages courtesy of Fiamme Pizza and Reservation Sensation food trucks. You can also quench your thirst with rainwater-infused mocktails and explore the beer and cider garden featuring offerings from Dragoon Brewing Company and Bawker Bawker Cider House.

There will be some fun learning activities goin’ on as well.

Learn how to build a simple rainwater collecting basin, and take home a mini rain garden kit. Participate in WMG’s River Ways art-making in the new Learning Center. Explore Southern Arizona’s creek and river ecology on their creek hop.

The party is also a double whammy celebration because it’s the grand opening of WMG’s new Learning Center. There you can experience all the green features of the new educational space, as well as the rest of the Living Lab.

Advanced registration is required for this event — they will not be accepting walk-ins. You can register anytime before the event online. During the registration process, there’s an option to donate to WMG, which directly supports their community conservation programs. Their goal is to raise over $100,000 to support their free, community programs.
