After nearly five years in business, Toro Loco Tacos y Burros is closing up shop at 5737 E. Speedway Blvd. The Serial Grillers concept, known for its French fry-stuffed burritos, moved into its current spot in March 2022, which was formerly Boulevard BBQ & Fixins (a former Serial Grillers concept).
The very last day to grab a bite to eat at Toro Loco is Monday, December 18, so stop on by and show ’em some love before they move out.

“It has been our great pleasure to serve each and every one of our customers,” Toro Loco shared on Instagram. “We hope you will continue to support our other concepts; Transplant Detroit Style Pizza, Craft A Modern Drinkery, Serial Grillers, and our newest venture Mosaic Brewing Co.“
The restaurant originally got its start at 7940 E. Broadway Blvd. and even opened a second location in Magdalena de Kino, Sonora, Mexico in 2021 (it’s still open). The choice to permanently close the Tucson restaurant wasn’t an easy decision to make, but owners Travis and William Miller feel it’s the right thing to do.
“It has been a difficult decision, but with restaurant sales on the decline, it is the right decision at this time,” they shared on social media. “You can still see our Toro Loco employees’ smiling faces throughout our other businesses as they will be relocated within our company. Please come enjoy a few last meals with us and this concept before the end of the year, we will very much appreciate the business and support as we say goodbye to our tacos, burritos, and other Mexican-inspired creations.”
Toro Loco Tacos y Burros is located at 5737 E. Speedway Blvd. and is open until Monday, December 18, 2023. For more information, follow Toro Loco on Instagram.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
