Thirsty Thursday: March Madness and New Beers at Pueblo Vida

Mar 13, 20252 min read

March Madness is that magical time of year when brackets get busted, underdogs become legends, and the term “buzzer-beater” is often used.

If you’re looking for a different kind of buzz, Pueblo Vida Brewing at 115 E. Broadway Blvd. has some new brews to pair with the Big 12 Tournament and beyond.

“Join us in the taproom now through Saturday the 15th for the start of the Big 12 Tournament games! The taproom TVs will be tuned in to a variety of both women’s and men’s games, we’ll have pitchers for the whole table, and an exciting atmosphere. Stay up to date with our socials for Cats’ game times as they’re announced! Plus, mark your calendar for Selection Sunday (March 16), when you will have the chance to fill out a March Madness bracket to win prizes.”

So, there you have it — bear down at Pueblo Vida this March Madness! Here are a couple of new beers to try as well.

More about Matt

At a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.

He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.

If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.

@Bktacos made @Nytimes’ list of 41 standout Mexican restaurants across the country. Published Aug. 13, the list was compiled by reporters, editors and photographers who spent more than a year traveling the U.S.

BK was the only Tucson restaurant included. Writer Bill Esparza highlighted its combination of Sonora-style carne asada and Sonoran hot dogs, a pairing he noted is distinct to Arizona. Benjamin and Karel Galaz, originally from Nacozari, Sonora, opened the restaurant in 1994.

Congratulations, @bktacos!🎉
