Before you join
What does member-supported mean?
Tucson Foodie is independent and locally owned. Memberships, along with a few local sponsors, pay for our reporting, guides, newsletter and events, so they stay free for everyone in Tucson. We only partner with local, independent restaurants. Never chains.
Can I cancel?
Yes, from your profile on this site or in the app. Cancelling stops the next payment and your membership runs to the end of the period you've already paid for. On the monthly plan you can pause instead, for up to a year.
How do the perks actually work?
Each restaurant sets its own perk and how often it comes back. A handful are good on every visit, most return every one to three months, and some are twice a year. The restaurant's own terms are shown with the perk.
Do I need the app to redeem?
Yes. A perk is redeemed in the Tucson Foodie app at the restaurant, and that is the only place a redemption is recorded. Managing or cancelling your membership works on this site too.
Is it one perk per person or per household?
Per member account. One membership redeems a given perk once per that perk's own schedule, however many people are at the table. What the discount covers is the restaurant's decision, and it is written on the perk.
Can two of us share one membership?
Yes. Sign in to the same account on both phones and the perks are shared between you. It is one allocation rather than two: each perk comes back on its own schedule for the account, not once per person. Member dinners work differently: a ticket is for a member, and whether you can bring a guest is set dinner by dinner.
Can I give unused perks away as gifts?
Yes. You can send a perk you haven't used to a friend from the app, and they don't need to be a Foodie Club member to open it. They just need a free Tucson Foodie account on the email address you sent it to. Gifting spends your own use of that perk for the period, so you're giving the perk away rather than an extra copy of it. There's no limit on how many different perks you can give, but each one has to come back on its own schedule before you can redeem or gift it again.
What if I don't use them?
Nothing accumulates. Each perk comes back on its own schedule rather than stacking up, so an unused month is simply an unused month. If you know you will be away for a while, pausing a monthly membership is the better option.
Is tucsonfoodie.com ad-free for members?
Yes. While you are signed in to an active Foodie Club membership, tucsonfoodie.com shows you no ads, and no ad code loads at all. The website is the only place that has ads; the app never has any. If a membership lapses, ads come back the next time a page loads.
Do member dinners cost extra?
Yes. Each dinner has its own price, set when it's announced. The price includes the tip, nothing is added at checkout, and it goes to the restaurant hosting the dinner. Tickets are released in the app, and whether you can bring a guest is set dinner by dinner.
Do I get anything for bringing friends?
Yes. Share your link from the app or from the Refer a friend page on this site. When a friend who has never been a Foodie Club member joins through it, their first payment goes through and they've been a member for 14 days, you each get a free month. Bring 3 friends and your next members' dinner is on us: a free ticket for you, applied automatically when you book any upcoming members' dinner within 12 months.

“Living in Tucson means we’re lucky to be in close proximity to several authentic pan dulce options and panaderías. @laestrella_tucson is one of those, and possibly the most well-known Tucson panadería, which is Spanish for bakery.” — Gloria Knott @tucsonloveletter
