On Wednesday, October 11, the Dillinger Brewing gang announced that their very last day as “Dillinger Brewing” is going to be Tuesday, October 31.
Therefore, just like others on Halloween, the local brewery will be dressed up as something new — only it’ll be on the day after (Wednesday, November 1) and it’s a permanent change. Owners Eric Sipe and Aaron Long mentioned that the new brewery that’s taking over will have its own branding at 3895 N. Oracle Rd. as well as the 402 E. Ninth St. taproom.
They shared the following on social media:
“We have had a blast over the past seven years, and will be hanging out/posting here with more details on a final Dillinger party! You may still be able to purchase Dillinger beer in distribution without a physical location, working on finding a partner now. Cheers!”

Sometimes when local breweries sell it means they’re being acquired by a bigger company like Anheuser-Busch, but that’s not the case with Dillinger — which is nice.
We’re not able to reveal the local business who purchased them just yet, but the Dillinger folks say that “they are local, you already know and love them, and they’ll do a great job.”
Dillinger Brewing Company’s Timeline
- First location on Oracle opened in December 2016
- Fourth Avenue taproom opened its doors on May 2021
- In January, 2023, The Blacktop Grill became a permanent fixture at the Fourth Avenue location
- April 2023, Brillé Mead Company opened up inside the Oracle Road location
Stay tuned for more updates on who has purchased Dillinger Brewing as we creep closer to the original owners’ final day on Tuesday, October 31. Plus, if all goes as planned, you can still buy Dillinger Brewing’s beer elsewhere, likely in local taprooms around Tucson.
Dillinger Brewing Company is located at 402 E. Ninth St. For more information, follow both Dillinger Brewing Company on Facebook and Instagram.

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
