This Sunday, November 22, enjoy a local mesquite pancake breakfast while celebrating mesquite, pomegranate, olive and other edible native and desert-adapted trees.

The Watershed Management Group’s annual Edible Shade event highlights the importance of our local trees and provides an opportunity to learn about environmental benefits they provide us with. The live music, artisan market, and fresh pancakes from 9am to 12pm don’t hurt, either.

Bring the kids to enjoy the Raindrop Retreat/La Casa del Chorrito playhouse and the special release of Poo to Peaches, a children’s book about composting toilets. Yes, really. Illustrator Kim Afinowich will be present for the book reading to sign copies.

Special guests Carolyn Niethammer and Scott Calhoun will present, and The Brambleberry Duo will provide the musical entertainment.

Back to the pancakes. Single pancakes run $2 each, or three for $5. Non-gluten and vegan options are available. Pre-pay for your plate at watershedmg.org. Exo Roast Co. will have special mesquite toddy for sale and Peddler on the Path will be here serving up hot espresso drinks.

Bring your TEP bill to receive a free shade tree courtesy of Tucson Electric Power, while supplies last, so hurry over.

@Dedicatedgf is for sale, but it’s not closing. The Midtown bakery at 4500 E. Speedway Blvd. will continue normal operations into 2027 and is accepting holiday orders.

Owner Jennifer Kinkade announced the listing on Instagram, explaining that rising operating costs and accumulated debt have made it difficult to sustain the business, despite steadily increasing year-over-year sales since 2020. The sale includes the business, recipes, lease and equipment. Kinkade is also open to a partnership or angel investor. The buyer would not assume the bakery’s existing debt.

Dedicated offers an entirely gluten-free facility with vegan and dairy-free options, including pastries, bread, cookies, pies and custom cakes.

Interested buyers can email jen@dedicatedgf.com. Customers can continue placing holiday orders as usual.
