Ermanos Craft Beer & Wine Bar is celebrating its second anniversary from 5 p.m. – 1 a.m. on April 1.

“I am grateful we have made it this far and thank everyone who has believed in us over the last two years,” said Mark Erman, who opened Ermanos in 2015 with his brother Eric Erman.

To start, they’re selling commemorative TeKu glassware clad with gold guilloche designed by Saywells Design Co. The TeKu glass was designed for optimal beer enjoyment, making it a favorite among beer connoisseurs.

“Craft beer is an affordable luxury and we felt that the sensory experience should be commensurate with the brewers’ passion to bring it to the glass,” Eric said.

Live music will be provided from Hey, Bucko! from 8 – 10 p.m., followed by jams from DJ Mother Tierra.

Last but not least, Ermanos will launch their late night menu at 10 p.m. with some new exclusive dishes.

Diners can expect the same scratch-kitchen quality and use of beer in the dishes. The portions are large enough to share, but guests with a case of the late night munchies might want to get their own order.

The BCB & JJ ($9) isn’t as promiscuous as it sounds, but it comes close. Thick, melt-in-your-mouth chunks of house-cured bacon mingle with cashew butter and jalapeño jelly on challah for layers of salty, savory, sticky, and slightly spicy flavors. Make sure to have a napkin on hand.

Crumbly cotija cheese is seared into the exterior of the Chorizo Beef Quesadilla ($9). The resulting brown crust adds a different type of crispness and an extra level of umami depth with the saltiness of the cotija, which pairs wonderfully with a fruity gose or wheat beer.

A giant pot of roasted duck carcasses serves as the base of the Thomas Keller-inspired house duck stock. Glossy duck stock hoisin barbecue sauce glazes the Sesame Ginger Wings ($9) and comes as a dip for the Duck Duck Gose ($9), which features duck confit and kimchi egg rolls.

Ermanos Craft Beer & Wine Bar is located at 220 N. 4th Ave. For more information, visit ermanosbrew.com.

IOU Sushi III has closed. The all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant on North Oracle Road announced the news on Facebook after about 10 years in Tucson. “This is the hardest post I’ve had to write,” the owners said. The post continued, “we have met some great friends who have become family to us.” Tucson Foodie first visited the restaurant in 2017, when it operated as IOU Sushi IV.

Anne Rysdale built @sheltercocktaillounge in 1961 with concrete walls, lava rock, and Cold War nerves. Today, owners Pam Santangelo and Kevin Breutzmann keep the Tucson bar exactly as regulars remember it. Inside, martinis share space with JFK memorabilia, a vintage atomic chandelier, and a suit of armor named Charlie. “Tucson is changing so much, but this has stayed the same. It’s a time capsule,” Santangelo said.
