Father’s Day 2025: Food, Music & More for Dad in Tucson

Father’s Day 2025: Food, Music & More for Dad in Tucson

Jun 23, 20268 min read

Save the grilling for another day! This Father’s Day has special dishes, cheap pints of beer, and meal deals that are big enough to feed the entire family.

Is your dad hard to shop for? Does he have everything he could possibly need, including all your love? If you’re looking for a gift that just keeps giving, might we suggest a Tucson Foodie membership? It’s all that and a bag of chips.

Keep in mind that we’ll be adding to the list each day leading up to Dad’s big day, so check it occasionally if you haven’t found the perfect meal for your parent.

Oh, and pay attention to the dates, as some of these events are happening before Father’s Day on Sunday, June 15.

We’re not sure what it is about dads.  Mother’s Day is pretty nonstop around here, and we assume that fathers abound in equal number, but it seems, by and large, to be a day for grilling at home.  Last year hardly anyone joined us for dinner, so we’ve given dinner the hook that day, but we will come in, even the dads who work here, to make brunch an enjoyable time for a father in your life.  We’ll be seating from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm, and in addition to our regular menu, we’ll be offering these Father’s Day treats:

Elvis waffle~Waffle with peanut butter, bacon and bananas.  Served with real maple syrup.

More about Matt

At a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.

He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.

If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.

Three-peat!🏆🏆🏆

@Chef_antbanks of @obonsushi defended his Iron Chef Tucson title against AJ Mortazavi of The Barnyard Crafthouse & Eatery, with tomatoes from Wholesum Family Farms revealed as this year’s secret ingredient.

Dromgoole’s winning menu included pork with minced olives over a diced tomato salad, a tomato-forward ratatouille with mozzarella, charred corn and whipped ricotta served with tableside tomato soup, and a standout dessert of fried tomato topped with goat cheese ice cream and balsamic glaze.

With the victory, Dromgoole joins Ryan Clark as the only chefs to win @theironcheftucson three years in a row. Here’s hoping OBON brings these dishes back for a special dinner. 🍅
