Two separate events are happening within miles of one another this weekend, including Fourth Avenue’s Sizzling Summer Sale and a luau at Main Gate Square on University Boulevard. Both events are offering discounts and specials galore.
If you’ve lived in Tucson for a while, you’ve probably heard of Fourth Avenue’s Sizzling Summer Sale. This year, over 30 locally owned Fourth Avenue businesses and restaurants are participating in the seventh annual summer sale on Friday, July 22, Saturday, July 23, and Sunday, July 24.
“Merchants slash prices on their most popular products and services attracting Tucsonans and visitors — rain or shine,” Fourth Avenue Merchants Association Executive Director Fred Ronstadt said. “It’s our version of Black Friday in July.”
The following restaurants are participating in the Fourth Avenue Sizzling Summer Sale:
- 4th Avenue Delicatessen — $5.50 meatball subs
- Bison Witches — $2 off nachos
- Brooklyn Pizza — Half-priced order of a dozen garlic knots with the purchase of a whole pizza
- Che’s Lounge — $4 dragoon pints, $4 bartender’s choice
- Chocolate Iguana — Buy one frozen explosion or smoothie, get the second 50% off; Also offering free candy samples
- The Coronet — $5 Paloma drink special (includes grapefruit and tequila)
- Delectables — Half-priced bottled wine
- Flycatcher — $5 “Sexy Blue Jesus” drink special
- Food Conspiracy Co-op — 10% off (and up) on meal replacements
- Lindy’s on 4th — Free side of fries or tots with the purchase of a burger and with mention of the Sizzling Summer Sale
- Sky Bar — $2 coffee
- US Fries — Half-off Eegees with the purchase of any food item
Other Fourth Avenue businesses are also offering discounts, including deals on clothing, books, artwork, jewelry, hair services, and yoga.
The Sizzling Summer Sale happens to coincide with another celebration — the second anniversary of the Sun Link Streetcar.
To celebrate, Fourth Avenue, Main Gate Square, and Tucson Electric Power are sponsoring free Streetcar rides all day on Saturday, July 23.
The celebration will also include live performances by Jimmy Carr and The Awkward Moments, Still Cruisin’, and Greg Morton. Music begins at 6 p.m.
The following restaurants are participating in the Main Gate Square Luau, beginning at 7 p.m.:
- The Auld Dubliner — Hawaiian pineapple and avocado burger and a shrimp and pineapple quesadilla
- Bear Track U — Half-off select bottled wine
- Campus Candy — 2 for 1 frozen yogurt with the “secret password” Mahalo
- The Fix — $2 craft beers, bottled lemonade, soda, and energy drinks with the purchase of one entree
- Frog & Firkin — $2 frozen margaritas, $2 kids slice of pizza
- Gentle Ben’s — Piña coladas served in pineapples sponsored by Bacardi & Hawaiian Burger (featuring a Hawaiian bun, pineapple, and jalapeño relish)
- Jamba Juice — $2 off any item
- Kababeque Indian Grill — $2 small mango Lassi, strawberry Lassi, or soda
- Mutts — 20% off the “Streetcar” sandwich, $2 chicken sausage
- Pasco — Spam street tacos with local roasted veggies and pineapple salsa
- Pei Wei — Egg walk contest, prize wheel, free samples, and buy two regular entrees, get a lettuce wrap free
