Tucson Jewish Community Center presents Bistro at the J by Asher, a Kosher Dining Experience for Everyone. This will be a full-service Kosher dining experience for all, hosted in the J’s ballroom with a Grand Opening Thursday, January 19 from 5 – 8 p.m., and open subsequent third Thursdays through April.

COOKING CLASS: BOBBY FLAY’S ANCHO CHILE-HONEY GLAZED SALMON

Antsy Nancy’s first Celebrity Chef cooking class menu is from Bobby Flay’s, Mesa Grill restaurant, formerly located in Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This menu is perfect for maximizing the spices and chiles found locally. There will even be an optional, complimentary Scout & Cellar wine will be paired and served with dinner for students 21 and over. Students are welcome to bring their own wine, champagne, beer, etc. to enjoy during class. Please view the BYOB policy for more details.

MINI BAR’S GRAND OPENING

From the folks who brought you Spaghetti Club, comes the cozy cocktail box, Mini Bar. Help the crew celebrate the special grand opening this Friday and, in turn, you’ll be rewarded with a fun evening under dry skies to try the wonderful new sakés, beer, wine, and specialty cocktails. Plus, Tita! Tita! will be serving their delicious bites.

Traditional O’odham Agriculture

Every third Saturday of the month Maegan Lopez and Sterling Johnson continue their Mission Garden tradition of talks and demonstrations about O’odham Agriculture. They talk about traditions associated with Native American crops like corn, beans, and squash, and how crops brought by Europeans were integrated into O’odham agriculture.

This is a great collaboration between Mission Garden and Ajo Center for Sustainable Agriculture.

Cost: Free with a suggested $5 per person donation at the entry gate.

WINES THAT PLAY WELL WITH FOOD

Saturday, January 21 at 2 p.m.
Feast, 3719 E. Speedway Blvd.

This week, Feast will be tasting four wines that pair with a broad spectrum of foods, and what they might be served with. Additionally, they’ll be sampling Albariño from Maryland. Cool stuff, right?

Cost: $15 plus tax and tip.

VIETNAMESE LUNAR NEW YEAR FESTIVAL

Saturday, January 21 from 4 – 9 p.m. & Sunday, January 22, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Our Lady of Lavang Vietnamese church will be holding a Lunar New Year festival called Tet, the shortened version of Tet Nguyên Dán. It is an important celebration in Vietnamese culture and translates to the “Festival of the First Day of the Year.”

There will be Vietnamese food stalls serving barbequed marinated pork skewers, banh mi, glutinous rice dishes, Vietnamese puddings, coffee jelly, authentic Vietnamese coffee, and much more!

There will also be entertainment such as a lion dance, a traditional dance where performers will don a large lion costume and mimic movements to bring good fortune and luck, traditional singing and dances, bingo, game stalls, toy stalls, and so on.

Everyone is welcome, adults and children, to come and enjoy the Vietnamese Lunar New Year festivities!

CHARCUTERIE LETTER WORKSHOP

Join Cuts & Slabs Charcuterie for the first charcuterie workshop of 2023. This is a lettering workshop which means you select any letter you would like and you’ll learn how to create a beautiful charcuterie display with all ingredients and step-by-step instructions will be provided.

BABETTE’S FEAST AT FEAST

Doug Levy, chef and owner of Feast, has crafted the meal that’s inspired by Isak Dinesen’s famous short story, which is paired with special wines and cognac.

The meal is a fundraiser for The Rogue Theatre and tickets are $375 per person. Check out the full menu here.
