Cocktail bar The Libertine 402 E. Ninth St. quietly closed its doors indefinitely on Saturday night after five months in business.
“We tried our absolute hardest and couldn’t keep going,” said Sally Kane, partner at The Libertine. “It’s such a hard corner.”
The Coronet, who Kane is also partner at, previously occupied the Ninth Street space from 2014 to 2019. Shortly after The Coronet began moving to 198 W. Cushing St., Kane and team transformed the Ninth Street space into The Libertine.
“We decided to put all of our efforts and love into the Cushing Street space,” Kane said. “It’s heartbreaking for us and has been a really hard week.”
The Coronet and sister cafe Fonda La Hermanita are still open.
Businesses interested in the former Libertine space can contact MEB Management Services.
