The Tucson Roadrunners are hosting the return of their “Hockey & Hops” beer fest before they hit the ice from 4 – 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 13.
This year, 11 local and regional breweries will be pouring some of their favorite beers in the outdoor beer garden. Each ticket gives you access to the pre-game beer garden, 10 beer garden drink tickets, a Tucson Roadrunners commemorative shot glass, and a ticket to the game against Ontario Reign after the event.

“We are so excited to be pouring at an event again and to connect with the crowd at Hockey & Hops,” said Tristan White, General Manager at Dragoon Brewing Company. “Our hope is that someone might try our brews for the first time, love them, and come visit our brewery later to see what else we have to offer. Plus our team loves to see the Tucson Roadrunners play.”
Tickets are $50 for General Admission or $30 as an add-on for Tucson Roadrunners season ticket holders.

Ticket sales from Hockey & Hops will be supporting Roadrunners Give Back — the Tucson Roadrunners’ non-profit organization — which was created to promote healthcare, education, and cultural arts programs for children and servicemen and women.
“Hockey & Hops is such a fun event and the fact that it supports Roadrunners Give Back is a huge plus,” said Julie Sipe, Director of Ticket Sales & Service with the Tucson Roadrunners. “We are looking forward to seeing our fans at the event and hope they enjoy trying out new beers, talking with the brewers, and rooting for the Tucson Roadrunners.”

Matt Sterner
More about MattAt a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.
He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.
If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
