Green Things Nursery is hosting a Meyer lemon tasting from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, November 4.
The Meyer lemon is a mix between a lemon and a tangerine, which makes the Meyer lemon much sweeter than your average lemon. The lemon is also more circular in shape.
The Meyer lemon isn’t common in large grocers or markets because of its short ripening period and quick degradation once picked. The lemon is only good for about ten days after picking, so they don’t ship or sell well to grocers.
However, the juice can be preserved by freezing. The juice can be kept frozen for up to a year.
Lucky for you, this time of the year is peak season for Meyer lemons at Green Things.
