Movie-Themed Culinary Experiences at RoadHouse Cinemas

Jun 7, 20242 min read

Ten years ago, RoadHouse Cinemas opened its doors in Tucson, redefining the movie-going experience with its blend of comfort, in-theater dining, and entertainment at 4811 E. Grant Rd.

You’re able to order food and beverages to be brought to you at your seat in the theater, which all come from a full-service kitchen and bar.

This summer and beyond, they’re hosting Cinema Culinary Experiences.

For two nights only, Monday, June 10 and Wednesday, June 12, the RoadHouse team will be showing “The Goonies” at 6 p.m. They’ll have door prizes, raffles, a preshow party in the lobby, and menu items inspired by the film.

“We want to welcome you to enjoy our special, limited-time screenings with thoughtfully curated food and drink menus inspired by the movie. These special menus will only be available during the event screenings. Come join us!”

Tickets are $6.95 per person.

The limited-time menu has yet to be released, but if you’ve eaten at RoadHouse in the past, you’re familiar with its movie-themed bites. On their everyday menu, you’ll find the Ghostbuster burger loaded with ghost peppers, Finding Nemo (a fish basket), and The Cluck Norris — a chicken sandwich “with a kick.”

Next month, on Monday, July 15, they’ll be showing “Pulp Fiction.”

Coming Soon…

Earlier this year, it was announced that the local theater leased the former Bed Bath & Beyond building that’s just on the other side of the wall at Crossroads Festival Shopping Center. They’re planning to knock around some dust and both buildings will become one giant entertainment venue.

The plan is to add 14 bowling lanes, an arcade with more than 120 games, an axe-throwing area, and Topgolf Swing Suites — comfy lounge areas for folks to host gatherings.

Stay tuned for when the entertainment venue will open.

RoadHouse Cinemas has two other locations at the moment — one up north in Scottsdale in 2017 and another in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2020.

In Tucson, RoadHouse Cinemas is located at 4811 E. Grant Rd. For more information, visit roadhousecinemas.com.

More about Matt

At a very young age, Matt Sterner was gifted with the artistic ability to masterfully roll a burrito to the highest of standards, but the wrapped medley of delicious innards wasn’t his first love. Matt’s first true love was a combination of reading, writing, and creating. He grew up reading comics, the ingredients list of his shampoo and conditioner bottles, choose-your-own-adventure books, and the Scrabble dictionary — something he found useful when challenging his grandmother to a game.

He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated with a degree in Digital Filmmaking. One of his favorite classes was screenwriting because he became responsible for the story’s birth before it came to life on-screen. After school, Matt took on numerous positions at a local television station in Tucson. From dealing out stories about heartbreak to producing “fluffier” content for a lifestyle broadcast, he learned what it takes to adapt to the many emotions the world of media can stir. Since 2017, Matt has dabbled in the culinary world of Tucson as well as San Diego, California from time to time.

If you’re in the mood for strange stories, head over to his pride and joy, wonkytimes.com. And in case you’re curious — yes, after all of this time, he still manages to roll a killer burrito.
