Jul 23, 20151 min read

Whether you cave for a Tucson Sonoran Dog, fool your tastebuds with a trendy “gourmet” version, or go for fast and easy at a convenience mart, hot dog lovers can all agree that National Hot Dog Day is a day for celebrating.

This July 23, the Fourth Avenue Delicatessen, aka 4th Ave Deli, is offering ‘Buy One Get One Free’ hot dogs all day long. The Deli’s “Under $5” menu offers hot dogs from regions all over the country, including the Chicago Dog, loaded with relish, peppers, a pickle and more, as well as the Bama Dog, piled with hot dog chili, coleslaw and southern style hot sauce.

All of the hot dogs on their menu are made with 100% beef Boars Head hot dogs, and veggie dog alternatives are available. Even vegetarians need their hot dog fix, and what better day to feed your craving?

The all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant on North Oracle Road announced the news on Facebook after about 10 years in Tucson. “This is the hardest post I’ve had to write,” the owners said. The post continued, “we have met some great friends who have become family to us.” Tucson Foodie first visited the restaurant in 2017, when it operated as IOU Sushi IV.

Anne Rysdale built @sheltercocktaillounge in 1961 with concrete walls, lava rock, and Cold War nerves. Today, owners Pam Santangelo and Kevin Breutzmann keep the Tucson bar exactly as regulars remember it. Inside, martinis share space with JFK memorabilia, a vintage atomic chandelier, and a suit of armor named Charlie. “Tucson is changing so much, but this has stayed the same. It’s a time capsule,” Santangelo said.
