12 popular beer patios to grab a cold one in Tucson

Dec 13, 20195 min read

While dry Tucson summer afternoons are too intense for patio drinking, virtually every other time is perfect.

Savor the evenings while sitting outside is tolerable and enjoy the outdoor drinking weather. Here’s our list of the best beer patios in Tucson.

More patios to enjoy

If you aren’t interested in the beer but are looking for a patio to cozy up on, check out 16 of the best restaurant patios in Tucson or take your pooch along to one of these: 111+ dog-friendly restaurant, bar & cafe patios to take your furry friend.

Arizona Beer House

150 S. Kolb Rd.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BykwqLLBbT2/

Arizona Beer House livens up their patio with food trucks and live music on a regular basis. Since they consistently update their Facebook events page, you can always find out what’s in store.

For more information, visit arizonabeerhouse.com.

Barrio Brewing Co.

800 E. 16th St.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bumgwe-j0nS/

Hidden in an industrial section of town, Barrio Brewing offers a laid-back brewery and restaurant.

The open patio provides a close-but-not-too-close view of the train tracks and a sunset view with a downtown silhouette.

To top it all off, the patio is low-key one of the best places in town to watch a monsoon with the open view and sound of rain on the tin roof.

For more information, visit barriobrewing.co.

Borderlands Brewing Company

119 E. Toole Ave.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BZPoiFhjgoL/?taken-at=5396869

Borderlands’ open patio, fairy lights, occasional food truck, and live music make it a lovely evening destination.

Aside from the occasional train passing by, Borderlands offers a downtown experience without the volume of Congress Street.

The Boxyard

Fourth Avenue shipping container development The Boxyard is a unique concept.

What opened as just a bar, with seating areas in and around the containers, has since expanded to include another bar and a few restaurantsPercheron Mexican GrillBxQ (Bronx BBQ), Indian Twist, and Nhu Lan Vietnamese Food.

The original bar features 15 beer taps. Cans and bottles can be enjoyed at The Boxyard or purchased to go. Wine and spirits are also available.

Seating ranges from shaded patio-controlled areas to the inside of shipping containers with outlets, plus a balcony overlooking Fourth Avenue.

People watching with drinks and a bite to eat is container park bliss.

Crooked Tooth Brewing Co.

228 E. Sixth St.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bi-IpjADpuX/?taken-by=crookedtoothbrewing

The patio door is outside of plain view at Crooked Tooth, so make the effort to find it.

Ring toss, corn hole, and Jenga create a fun environment alongside occasional live music.

Food trucks often make evening appearances, but you’re also welcome to bring a pizza (or five) from Anello next door.

Reilly Craft Pizza & Drink

101 E. Pennington St.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BuH2trThOiU/

The beer garden at Reilly tickles the line between indoor and outdoor with open garage doors. The tall downtown buildings surrounding the patio make it feel more private.

Saguaro Corners

Tucked away on the east side, Saguaro Corners is a local watering hole not to be left out. With 22 rotating craft beers on tap — and a full bar —there’s no shortage of options.

With misters to keep you cool on warmer nights and heaters to combat the changing temps, you’re taken care of. They offer comfort food in a beautiful setting with possible wildlife spotting as well as live music every night from Wednesday to Saturday.

Sentinel Peak Brewing Company

4746 E. Grant Rd. • 9155 E. TANQUE VERDE RD.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B0drv_khT0R/

In 2015, Sentinel Peak’s expansion catered for an outdoor patio to increase seating options. The light-strung space makes for the perfect place to hang out in the afternoon. This extends to their location on Tanque Verde road.

With added weekly specials, you have ample opportunity to enjoy their brews — and tuck into the menu — in a casual setting.

For more information, visit sentinelpeakbrewing.com.

Tap & Bottle North

7254 N. Oracle Rd.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BonWK7aFKcE/?taken-at=1824775597814152

While Tap & Bottle’s downtown location doesn’t have a patio, Tap & Bottle North is well-equipped with furniture and a cozy fire pit for colder nights.

For more information, visit thetapandbottle.com.

Three Canyon Beer and Wine Garden

4999 N. Sabino Canyon Rd.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Ba-QoJYhwOy/?taken-at=1569161333384246

Three Canyon was built with its patio as a main priority. The Sabino Canyon area mountain views — and even wildlife within view — make it a popular spot for folks in the area.

Tucson Hop Shop

3230 N. Dodge Blvd.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Blela-SDcVL/?taken-by=tucsonhopshop

Tucked away in the Metal Art Village, Tucson Hop Shop is cozy whether you’re inside or outside.

Enjoy the beautiful back patio with cornhole, live music by local musicians, and DJ sets by Wooden Tooth Records, or even wander out front for additional seating and the occasional food truck.

For more information, visit tucsonhopshop.com.

Westbound

267 S. Avenida del Convento, Ste. 12

https://www.instagram.com/p/BnxY1t-DiLX/?taken-by=westbound_tucson

Situated in a handful of shipping containers, Westbound was designed as an outdoor experience. The units provide evaporative cooling on hot days, while heaters are around for cold nights. Weekend nights often include live music.

Additionally, the MSA Annex works in such a way that you can bring your beer from Westbound to other MSA Annex businesses such as Beaut Burger and Kukai.
