Poco & Mom’s To Open Northeast Location With Full Bar

Poco & Mom’s To Open Northeast Location With Full Bar

Jul 30, 20142 min read

One of Tucson’s favorite restaurants for New Mexico-inspired cuisine is giving Northeast residents new motivation to rise and shine a little earlier.

Poco & Mom’s will open a second location in early September inside the Santa Fe Square at 7000 E. Tanque Verde Road. Locally owned Poco & Mom’s 1060 S. Kolb location has been Tucson’s go-to source for authentic New Mexico Hatch chile-infused Mexican and American cuisine for more than 14 years.

In even better news for fans of Poco & Mom’s, guests will now be able to order a spicy Bloody Mary alongside their plate of signature Red Pork Tamales breakfast combo (voted Tucson’s Best Hangover Breakfast) as the new location will feature a full bar.

Poco & Mom’s assistant manager Barbara Sullivan told Tucson Foodie that the new location, formerly home to Amber Restaurant & Gallery, will also feature a private banquet room, available for groups of up to 40. A spacious outdoor patio will provide an excellent view on cooler nights while guests enjoy a cocktail in the adobe-styled plaza, previously home to the Gaslight Theater, and currently the Tucson Desert Art Museum.

In a case of extreme serendipitous real estate hunting, it’s difficult to imagine a better spot for Poco & Mom’s. As a restaurant well-known for its New Mexico style cuisine, a second location inside the aptly named Santa Fe Square – with its signature regional architectural style – is nothing short of a perfect fit. The plaza’s patrons will no doubt inspire the weekly Santa Fe Square Farmers Market vendors to stock up on extra chiles.

Sullivan indicated that there would be no immediate changes to the current menu, and that the drive-thru menu options would still be available as a take-out option. The Tanque Verde location will keep the same hours, but most likely stay open an extra hour until 10pm, mirroring Amber’s former closing time.

Poco & Mom’s current Kolb Rd. location hours are Tuesday-Fridays 6am to 9pm, Saturdays 7am to 9pm, Sundays 7am to 2pm, and closed on Mondays. Catering is also available. For more information, visit Pocos & Mom’s or call (520) 325-7044.

IOU Sushi III has closed. The post continued, “we have met some great friends who have become family to us.” Tucson Foodie first visited the restaurant in 2017, when it operated as IOU Sushi IV.

Anne Rysdale built @sheltercocktaillounge in 1961 with concrete walls, lava rock, and Cold War nerves. Today, owners Pam Santangelo and Kevin Breutzmann keep the Tucson bar exactly as regulars remember it. Inside, martinis share space with JFK memorabilia, a vintage atomic chandelier, and a suit of armor named Charlie. “Tucson is changing so much, but this has stayed the same. It’s a time capsule,” Santangelo said.
